The materials for rugged panel computers are superior in strength as compared to regular panel PCs. For one, materials have to pass ratings such as MIL-STD and IP/NEMA to be considered rugged. These materials are naturally resistant to harsh conditions that are present in various industrial settings. Industrial computer materials are also strong enough to withstand corrosion and hazardous chemical exposures.

Choosing the Right Materials

When picking a rugged touch panel PC, it is imperative to consider the construction materials. Manufacturers use different combinations of materials to produce varying products. The construction material of a panel PC will determine its suitability for targeted applications. For instance, a computer utilised in a motor assembly plant will need to be built for shock and vibration resistance, whereas a computer that will be used in a restaurant kitchen will need to operate under extreme temperature ranges.
